View from Dock

SUMMER is always a wonderful time of year at "PANGLOSS"
For BIRD WATCHES it is an absolute haven as on or near the property are Piliated Woodpeckers, Great Blue Herons, Gray Jays (who are very bold), Gross Beak, Cardinals, Brown Eagles and many many others.  AND don't forget the ever-present LOON and its haunting magical call.  Of course this is only a short list of the many species that frequent the property and surrounding bush lots.  There is also a family of Mergansers which like to paddle by the dock and amuse the children.

The view from the dock is spectacular and serene and peaceful, you will have no problem relaxing here!  The lake bottom here is sandy and only gets deep over a gradual span of about forty feet until an adult would be chest deep -- excellent for children and novice swimmers.  There are also Otters and Beaver in the lake and those who are lucky will enjoy their boisterous and amusing play.

Amongst the day time activities are Horse Back Riding, Hiking, Bicycling, Canoeing, Swimming, Horseshoes, Exploring, Fishing and amongst many other activities too numerous to list our personal favorite:  Laying around in the sun on the dock doing absolutely NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!
From experience over the past 41 years I can personally attest to the fact that there is always something to do at "PANGLOSS"

Summer Activities Include:

Horse Back Riding, Hiking, Bicycling, Canoeing, Swimming, Horseshoes, Exploring, Fishing and amongst many other activities too numerous to list our personal favorite:  Laying around in the sun on the dock doing absolutely NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!

Fall at the Cottage

Autumn is an especially tranquil and beautiful time of year for a week's vacation or a weekend get-away.  It's the time of year that might not suit people with children in school, but it is a wonderful time of year for retirees, fishermen, bird hunters, or anyone that can get away for a few days.

Mother nature also provides an exciting "happening" with the change of the leaves right around September and October.  It is a phenomenon which must be enjoyed at its peak at "PANGLOSS".  Spend tranquil, crisp nights by a glowing fire, and warm days beside the lake.
At this time of year the haunting call of the loon seems even more melancholy as it pierces the evenings calm.

Autumn Activities include:

Hunting, Fishing, Nature Hikes, Horseback riding, Golfing, Fall Fairs, Antique and Gift Shopping, Bicycling, Berry picking.

Winter at Pangloss

Winter is particularly beautiful in this part of the near north.  There is no running water or septic system available from October through May inclusive! So while still a very comfortable cottage there is some element of roughing it during this time of year. But the path to the outhouse is always shoveled and water must be brought in.    The snow is thick and white and the lake, except for a few year round residents, is all but deserted.  "PANGLOSS" is the perfect week long or weekend get a-way.

The wood stove provides ample heat on even the coldest of nights (-30) as the cottage is entirely insulated (except for the floor).

Winter Activities Include:

Cross country skiing, Snowmobiling, Snow shoeing, Sleigh rides, Dog sled expeditions, Ice fishing, Skating on the lake.
